Ellie Maguire

Grants Manager

Ellie, who has worked in the charitable sector for the last 15 years,  has more than ten years experience in fundraising and bid writing. She followed a career in the charitable sector since graduating with a Sociology degree from the University of Surrey, Roehampton.

Before taking up her position as Grants Manger for the Foundation she worked for Dorset Action on Abuse, a local grass roots charity, and as Service Delivery Manager for the Witness Service based at Bournemouth Crown Court.

Kirsty Whitfield

Finance Manager

Kirsty has worked in finance since 2001 and has an accountancy degree from Southampton Solent University. She also gained a professional membership with the Association of Certified Chartered Accountants.

Kirsty worked for a housing association for 12 years before joining Dorset Community Foundation in 2015.

Gareth Owens

Philanthropy Director

Gareth has more than 11 years’ experience in the charitable sector in a variety of fundraising roles with local and national charities here and in his native Wales.

He previously worked as fundraising manager for Hope Housing, Training & Support and Dorset Blind Association.

Away from work Gareth is a keen fan of trainers (particularly Adidas Originals and Onitsuka Tigers), enjoys playing with his children and fixing electric guitars in his spare time. He is also a huge fan of spending as much time as he can at Dorset’s sandy beaches in summer.

Alice Cable

Individual Grants and Project Manager

Alice has more than ten years’ experience with charities in Dorset and has also worked in education and recreation in the area. Her background is in the arts and performance and she studied drama and theatre at Royal Holloway, University of London.

In her spare time Alice plays baseball for the Bournemouth Bears and runs an online multidisciplinary art collective.

Liana Douglass

Finance and Operations Co-ordinator

Liana has worked in finance and administration for more than ten years across the sector. She is currently studying Level 2 AAT and previously worked in finance administration within the private care sector, where she supported families through the transition of placing loved ones into care.

Outside of work, Liana enjoys spending time with her children and wider family. She has a passion for music and loves making the most of the summer whenever possible
