Dorset is home to a diverse array of talented young people covering a range of sporting activities

Some of the county's brightest prospects, however, lack the means to pursue their dreams fully and that's where The Lord-Lieutenant's Fund for Young and Talented comes in.

The appeal side of the Fund was officially launched in September 2015. In February 2017, for the first grant making round, we focused on supporting those with sporting talents – helping level the playing field!

Within weeks of opening the fund for applications we received over 22 requests for support. The grants panel supported 11 future sports stars competing in a variety of sports such as sailing, water polo, para-triathlon and swimming.

Any individual, trust or company that would like to help the fund brighten the prospects of Dorset’s stars of the future by making a donation should send cheques made payable to the Dorset Community Foundation (please write LL Fund on the back of the cheque) to:
