Bursary helps student forced to do coursework on a phone get a laptop

A 16-year-old student at Brockenhurst College who is a registered carer for her mum has been able to attend her course remotely thanks to a Dorset Community Foundation education bursary.

The youngster, who single mum has a heart condition, was struggling to afford to attend college to study English, Maths, and PACE to improve her GCSE results and set a course for her future.

She was trying to study using her mobile phone because she has no laptop but when she lost her phone she began losing attendance points on remote learning days.

The DCF bursary has supported her with a laptop and transport costs, which she says will help reduce the panic attacks that she has been experiencing due to stress.
