Safe and Sound Dorset works with vulnerable and marginalised women living in this community who often experiencing multiple disadvantages including homelessness, drug and alcohol misuse, family breakdown, mental health issues and chronic and long-term illness.
The group provides a safe space where all-female staff and volunteer team offer women who are isolated or at risk in Bournemouth a free meal and free, confidential, practical and emotional support.
They offer creative lifestyle sessions twice a week alongside free meals, refreshments and shower/laundry facilities.
Safe and Sound also carry out evening street outreach service, as they believe that is when homeless and vulnerable women are most at risk.
In addition to the two services, the third service the group offers is Advice and Support which helps members with guidance on housing, education, employment and mentoring.
A grant DCF provided from the Tampon Tax Fund will enable the community group to expand their services, including training more beneficiaries to become volunteers.
